"You cheer my heart, who build as if Rome would be eternal." − Augustus Caesar
This evening stroll brings you up close and personal to the flavors of Rome. We meet just near the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna and then we will set out together to meet Rome and her romantic historical center. Strolling through the cobblestone streets, we'll make leisurely stops at the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo de' Fiori. As we fall into the evening hours, we'll see the city transform herself into her infamously romantic character when artists take the streets in Piazza Navona and the locals go out for an aperitif at their favorite venue.
Not only do we experience Rome's boasting piazzas and famous fountains on this walk, but we also converse about Rome's many prized artists, architects, scientists, and politicians and the marks they each left on Rome. Among these: Borromini, Bernini, Caravaggio, Bruno, Galileo, Julius Caesar, Mussolini, and Fellini.
As we roam the winding streets of the city and its history, we also work up our appetites as we look forward to the end of the tour where we'll finish with a tasty local aperitif. Afterall, what would an evening out in Rome be without experiencing its local aperitif culture?! Your Presto Guide will share a drink and appetizers with you at one of our favorite venues. We have found that this is a beautiful way to get to know fellow travelers, share experiences, discuss Italian matters, and enjoy. In Rome, an "aperitivo" usually is buffet style appetizers of pasta, breads, vegetables, salumi, and cheeses and includes a beverage of choice (alcohol and non-alcoholic options are available and the venue we visit is indeed appropriate for our children guests as well).
