Uffizi Gallery Tour

A Visit to Florence is incomplete without a tour of the famous Uffizi Gallery – a museum that once was open by request only. At the Uffizi, there is more art per square inch than any other gallery in Florence! Originally intended as a building to house offices (Uffizi means “offices”), the construction of the Uffizi Gallery began in the 16th century. Today it is now home to some of the most renowned art of the Renaissance era.

A Presto Guide and master art historian will visit these precious artworks with you and discussing the tales and folklore linked to the finest Renaissance artists in history. The museum is home to the exquisite art collection of the Medici family, a wealthy benefactor of Florentine arts. Giorgio Vasari, the revered architect of the Uffizi Gallery, created a courtyard resembling a street between the two wings and opens up to the Arno River. Both the interior and outdoor are spectacular visions. Works by legendary artists grace the interior and the outdoor cityscape was revolutionary for its time. The list of masterpieces is seemingly endless but highlights include: Da Vinci’s The Annunciation and The Adoration of the Magi, Raphael’s Madonna of the Goldfinch, Michelangelo’s The Doni Tondo, Giotto’s The Ognissanti Madonna, Duccio’s Maesta, Titian’s Venus of Urbino.
