Love for the Written Word

Love for the Written Word

Thousands of writers have been drawn to Italy and have written novels while living here. Dante Alighieri, Italo Calvino, Truman Capote, Umberto Eco, E.M. Forster, Ezra Pound, Ernest Hemingway and Percy Bysshe Shelley are just a few of the writers who have found inspiration in Italy's fabric. William Shakespeare uses Italy as the backdrop (and arguably a main character!) in many of his plays. There is some belief that he was actually born in Messina, Sicily! If you are curious about these writers' environments, interested to learn more about the settings of their writing or would like to dive head-first into their literature, Presto Tour Guides is thrilled to lead the way.
